We wanted to share some of the training in the Chic Community this week regarding your Instagram grid. We gave so much information and we still feel like we have so much more to share. Your Instagram grid is a crucial piece to your social media marketing and we want to share some of our tips with you to rock your Instagram grid game!!
If you are running a business on social media, have you ever been frustrated with growing your business on social media because some days it is working, some days it isn’t, some days you feel like you have it all figured out, and then some days you are like “I don’t know what I’m doing”. It can get so frustrating! But don’t worry, Chic is here to save the day and would like to share some of the strategies and tips that we have been using ourselves to really grow our business in the Chic Community.
Start With A Community Mindset
When you are getting ready to engage with your audience, you want to create a sense of community right on the page where people actually feel like “you’re my jam” or “you are not my people at all”. So they are going to be either “Yes, I want to hear all about what you have to say” or “you are not my people”. It’s an instant “you are my kind of person” or “you’re really not”. Never be offended if somebody isn’t your jam… just keep sharing your content because you are authentic to your brand and your message. Your message isn’t going to hit the masses, but it’s going to resonate with a specific type of person who is most likely going to be the type of person who is going to want to purchase from you down the road.
Tip 1: Closed Ended Questions
A close ended question is when you ask them to do ‘Option 1’ or ‘Option 2’ or to drop an emoji from a list that you give them to pick from. There is a psychology behind that. When we ask them something like “What are you doing this weekend?” and people don’t always know and then start thinking about that. Then, instead of sharing what they are doing this weekend, a lot of times, they start thinking about it and then move on.
But, we want them to put their comments down and engage with us from the get go. This weekend, try “What are you up to this weekend?” and drop an emoji of a piece of pizza, a wine glass, and shopping bags to really get to know what your audience is doing. Chances are, they are going to interact really quickly or maybe they will have something else to say instead.
Tip 2: Use the Plann app!
Take advantage of the best Instagram app that we love: Plann! You can download it on your iPhone or Android and use it on your phone. The desktop version is still in beta. This app is amazing because it helps you space out your content. Have you ever looked at an Instagram and it looks like 1 jumbled paragraph? Or have you ever typed an Instagram post and you have it spaced out right, but when you post it on Instagram, it turns it into 1 giant blurb? One of the best things about the Plann app is the spacing ability!!
If you go to our Chic Instagram page, you will see that everything is in paragraphs and small sentences. People don’t think then that they are reading that much information and are more likely to read something that are in small blurbs, with fun emojis, and it just makes us want to read more!
Tip 3: Have a Strong Hashtag game!
The hashtag game needs to be strong. This is where it is at! Your hashtags are all about your brand. You want to make sure that you’re creating hashtags where people are going to find you or you. You can also explore the hashtags yourself and start finding people to connect with and relate to who are a lot like you. For me (Katy), I don’t love the way hashtags look right in the content section of my post. Most times, I’ll write the content section of my post and then in the comments, I’ll put up to 30 hashtags that people can see and find me by.
Here’s a trick… if you don’t like the way the hashtags look, just click period, enter, period, enter five times and then it will have these ellipses where it’s not seen right away. That’s one of our insider tricks that we share here at Chic Influencer. So, yes, use hashtags… they are great for people to find you and you can also find other people based on the hashtags that you are using. Just make sure that you are staying in brand with the message you want to share with your audience!
If you have any other Instagram grid tips that you love and are working for you, we’d love to hear them!! If we haven’t met you in the community, please make sure that you check it out. We would love to help you grow your grid game!
