How to Grow Your Business When You Feel Stuck
There is nothing worse than feeling stuck while you’re trying to grow your business! So often business owners hit roadblocks in their business. It can be hard to identify what needs changing or in what ways you can pivot to see growth. Often times, you may lose sight of your original vision. In the beginning, you were so passionate but now you’re unsure of yourself and your business. We see it all the time! Business owners try a new business for a little while without seeing the results they like. They quickly pick up something new and try again. Over and over again, they start something new only to quit it shortly after due to feeling stuck. Today, we want to share with you a few tips on how to get unstuck so you can see growth in your business!
Change Your Perspective
First, it is easier said than done, but change your perspective if you want to grow your business. Majority of business owners measure growth by calendar year. While this can be helpful for data tracking, it isn’t always that easy! Some things in your business aren’t going to happen in one calendar year. Many things will take years and years to develop! This doesn’t negate goal setting or vision casting. They can work simultaneously together!
When you’re setting goals for your year, you can dream big BUT you must be realistic as well. Your goals should challenge you, but not cause you to already feel defeated. Start viewing your business more fluidly instead of strictly in calendar years.
Get Inspired, Not Motivated
Second, if you want to grow your business you must get inspired not just motivated! During our podcast interview with Elizabeth Hartke this week, Elizabeth shares the differences in inspiration and motivation. There are many things you can do to get motivated in your business, but feeling inspired comes from within.
You can read books or listen to a motivational Ted talk, but if you aren’t inspired by your business, you’ll quickly feel burnout. Motivation can get you through the first few months of the year. But when things get hard, motivation won’t help you persevere. When your business inspires you, it will be apart of you, not just something you do. Getting inspired by how you can help others lights a fire inside of you that motivation simply can’t do.
Elizabeth said, “Motivation is like pushing a boulder up a hill, and inspiration is like letting the boulder go and it cruising on its own.”
Become Curious
Next, becoming curious can help you make pivots and grow your business! Feeling stuck is a great reason to start making tiny pivots within your business. It may be adding a few different things in your routine, marketing, or goals. When you allow flexibility and curiosity in your business, you make room to find what works best for you! What you’re doing right now may work just fine, but if you were to get curious about other possibilities, you may find something that works great.
It is all about tiny pivots along the way! After becoming curious over a period of time, you’ll be great at identifying what you want and what you do not want for your business. Despite the tiny pivots and curiosity, you never give up on knowing you are called in a certain direction. Tiny pivots don’t allow room for you to leave your business, but it does leave room for growth and development in your business!
Get Granular
Last, to get unstuck and grow your business, it is critical to get granular with your day to day activities! We talk about this a lot at Chic Influencer. In order to reach your goals, you must break them down by day-to-day activities. You won’t be able to reach your long term goals without breaking them down further. After accomplishing your small goals, you should celebrate each small win! The progress is inspiring and prevents getting stuck.
Also, when you start vision casting it is crucial to identify what the daily income producing activities will be in order to reach that goal. If your goals come at the expense of how you live each day, are they really worth it? It is important to make sure that you can commit to the daily activities before committing to the end goal.
What will you have to sacrifice every day in order to make that dream happen?
Are you going to have to sacrifice in areas that are non-negotiable to you?
It is crucial to assess your life and the non-negotiable things in your day-to-day before committing to something. If you start sacrificing everything that brings you joy, would it be worth it? When we get to a point where we aren’t living well in order to reach a goal, it may be time to reassess the vision.
Your day-to-day is how you actually live while trying to pursue your dreams. This is why your day-to-day matters because its how you will feel while running your business! Your business must be maintainable every single day. If it is not, you’ll get burnout, unmotivated, and uninspired very quickly!
