Your family, close friends and your next door neighbors all became customers. 

Launching your direct sales business seemed to come natural in the beginning, right?

Then … crickets. You started to doubt yourself AND questioned your business. Customers weren’t seeking you out as much as they did in the beginning. #whatishappening

You contemplate stepping away from your direct sales business because you AREN’T making any money.

If this is (or was) you, friend, keep reading. 

Listen, we’ve all been there. No matter how long you’ve been in your direct sales business, it doesn’t necessarily get easier but with experience, you get smarter.

With our direct sales experience and mentoring other business owners, we are able to pinpoint areas that are a determining factor where people do and do not make money. Here are 3 reasons you may NOT be making income with your direct sales biz.

1.You’re not focusing your attention on income producing activities

You’re probably reading that line and are thinking to yourself “What activities are they even talking about?” 

When we begin our journey as business owners, a lot of the time we enroll as a distributor and are told “Congratulations, you now own your own business!”

And you have NO idea what to do next! So you understand you have to sell products to people you know in hopes they see results and continue to become customers!

This is where it’s incredibly easy to focus on selling MORE instead of how to serve WELL.

When you are in direct sales, you have to look at your PRIORITIES. What are the things I need to do to support my direct sales business priorities.

2. You have a hobby … not a business.

A lot of people come into their direct sales business with the intention of paying for their weekly groceries or to have some extra cash to get a monthly massage. 

Let’s be real. A hobby is something you enjoy doing and not really a PRIORITY in your everyday life. 

How many of you have hobbies but life takes over (oh you know virtual learning and/or sports) and those hobbies tend to go to the back burner? If your direct sales business is treated like a hobby, you are not going to feel ‘bad’ about pushing it to the next day because you just didn’t have time for it. 

We can’t expect a business that we continue to give a little bit here and there to pay us an INCOME – big or small!

Once you begin treating your business like a business – getting organized,, prioritizing, focusing on the activities AND devoting your time – you will begin to see a major shift!

3. You’re allowing the opinions of others get in the way of pursuing your passion!

Let us ask you a few questions and we want you to be honest with yourself:

  1. Are you letting the opinions of others keep you from pursuing your passion?
  2. Before you create a post or send an invite, do you think to yourself “Is my neighbor going to see this? What if I lose a friend? What if people start to give me the cold shoulder?”

At the beginning, it’s incredibly easy to get into our own heads and to OVERTHINK EVERYTHING. 

Maybe you have a valid reason – it’s possible you have a toxic group of friends or had a past experience where people weren’t supportive. 

If you are someone who is afraid to share your story and put yourself out there because of what others MIGHT think of you, we’re here to tell you…..

Unfortunately, people already don’t like you. There we said it! 

Even before launching your business – just being – there are people out there who aren’t feeling your vibe! At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself “Do I believe in what you do?” 

If you answered yes, then you have to keep moving forward. 

When people don’t like you or what you are doing, unfortunately has everything to do with THEM and nothing to do with YOU. 

You have to think about who in your life SUPPORTS you! It’s important to always surround yourself with genuine people who are ROOTING for YOU!
