3 Tips to Shift Your Direct Sales Business Mindset
Does your business mindset sound something along the lines of:
“My business will take off when …”
“Once my kids go to school, I will have more time”
“She is so lucky her business is successful”
Sound familiar?
So, you’re looking for the perfect time to put more effort and focus on your business. Well friend, spoiler alert: there is no such thing as the perfect time and takes a lot more than simple luck to become successful! It’s all about shifting your business mindset!
We get it, life is busy between kiddos, work, sports, commitments, laundry, errands – the list goes ON.
It’s so easy to put your business on the backburner, look at other business owners and think ‘they are so lucky’ and daydreaming about the “when’s” and “somedays” .. aka deflecting!
To help you get your head out of the clouds, we are sharing 3 tips to help shift your business mindset to better focus on actions!
Tip 1: Refusing to Wallow in the What-If
Have you ever watched a movie where the main character falls victim but ends up being the hero? Did you feel as though you connected with that particular character?
Not because he or she stayed in victim mode but because that character took action and became the hero. And just like them, we also want to be the hero of our own story!
But the truth is, it’s not easy and at times terrifying! So afraid that we would rather sit and ‘wallow in the what-if than take action and know that we don’t have control of the outcome.
It’s incredibly important to step out of the victim mindset if you are aiming to be successful in your business. The more you sit and think about the ‘what if’ the less likely you will actually put forth action and see results. It will take time and it won’t necessarily be easy but you must keep pushing towards your goals.
Tip 2: Be Married to Your Output and Divorce Your Outcome
So what exactly is your output?
Your output is your effort, focus and the action(s) needed to move the needle forward in your business (even if it’s not pretty!)
You NEED to get rid of the mindset of
“I DESERVE it this way”
“this is how is SHOULD look”
“This is the time it SHOULD take”
It’s easy to get swept up in the outcome before actions are even taken.
Removing the outcome focus and leaning into your effort is when you will begin to see results in real time.
Tip 3: Make Your Business Work for the Season You’re In
Have you ever thought to yourself “I can’t wait for my kids to go to school full time, then I will have more time” or “Once I have a bigger home, I will have my own office”
I think we can all agree, we are guilty of saying something along those lines! But what’s important is making your business work for the season you are in – AKA a lot of imperfect action!
You have to shift your thoughts from those statements and understand that it won’t really be better and there will be plenty of new challenges to face.
You have to take the time you have – whether it’s 10 minutes, 30 minutes – and take action! It may not be perfect but taking imperfect action holds so much more value than doing nothing at all. Taking those small pockets of time throughout your day, overtime, will significantly move your business forward.
As we head into our last month of 2020, let’s get rid of the luck, the what ifs and the when’s. It’s time to embrace the messiness of building a business – sacrifices and all! It’s not easy, friend but it’s WORTH IT! There is a reason why everyone isn’t doing it and YOU ARE!
