5 Simple Instagram Hacks to Implement Today
As entrepreneurs who rely on social media – IG in particular- to grow our business, we are always staying ‘in the know’ when it comes to platform updates.
It can be extremely frustrating at times – you finally get the hang of one feature and BOOM, IG drops something brand new.
Well friend, that’s why we (Chic Influencer) are here – to help YOU navigate the ins and outs of social media!
Today we are sharing with you 5 IG hacks that you WANT to make sure you are doing!
Instagram Hack #1: Link to Other Profiles or Hashtags in Your Bio
Think of your IG grid and bio as your elevator pitch — you want to let new followers know EXACTLY who you are and what you do within seconds. It’s your one chance to capture their attention – will they stay or will they go?
Although this is not a brand new feature, it’s useful if you’re managing more than one account for your brand, or if you’re running a branded hashtag campaign.
Check out our Chic Influencer and Planner bio’s. We have direct links to our accounts.
How link to other profiles or hashtags in your bio:
- From your Instagram Profile page, tap “Edit Profile”
- In the bio section, add any Instagram handles (including the @ symbol) or any hashtags (using the # symbol)
- Tap “Done” in the top right of the screen when you’re finished with your bio
- Instagram will automatically make this text link to the Instagram profiles or hashtags (Note: Tagged accounts will be notified that they were tagged)
Instagram Hack #2: Appear in More Search Results on the Explore Page
Did you know that the “Name” field in your Instagram bio is searchable? This is a feature that no one really talks about!
You are able to change it to words that highlights what your brand or business is about. For example, both Melanie and Katy have ‘Business Mentor’ or ‘Biz Mentor’ in theirs! By including important keywords in your Name field, your chances of appearing in Instagram’s Explore page if anyone searches for those keywords will be much higher!
Instagram Hack #3: Turn Your Instagram Feed into Your Own Shop
Back in late 2020, IG made the shift into the e-commerce space and, as business owners, changed the way we promote our products & services.
Rather than directing customers to your website, Instagram Shopping allows them to select and purchase products easily from the app.
Sharing products or promoting services on Instagram is nothing new. But when it comes to Instagram Shopping, think digital catalogue.
Your audience can learn more about the products you sell right in the app! From there, they can either purchase directly on Instagram (with Checkout) or click through to finish the transaction on the brand’s ecommerce site.
Previously, when you were promoting your brand, you would see (or hear) “link in bio!”, or via “swipe up!”
With these new Instagram Shopping features, the whole process is streamlined – and SUPER easy!
As Ariana Grande would say “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it”
Instagram Hack #4: Continuously Update Your IG Stories Highlights
Remember, when new followers come to your page, you want them to WANT to stay awhile.
Think of your IG Stories Highlights as your brand’s portfolio — you want to share your best content upfront and center on your page!
On your IG profile, there’s prime real estate for 4 Instagram Stories Highlights above your grid. You can have more than 4 highlights BUT at first glance you are able to visibly see 4.
You want to make sure you’re always optimizing that space and showing off your best highlights! It’s important to continuously update if you want to entice your audience to tap through your highlights.
Instagram Hack #5: Your Highlights Icons Must Be Consistent With Your Brand
Your IG Stories Icons help draw in your audience and entice them the tap through to see more of your stories posts.
So you want to make sure that your highlights not only match your overall IG aesthetic but also let your audience know what your highlight is about!
Pro Tip: You can create your OWN highlight icons on Canva OR if you have the budget, you can purchase on websites like Etsy!
Friends, we know this can come off as a lot to remember and it can be extremely overwhelming at times.
