3 Instagram Trends to Watch Right Now
Like most trends these days – and no we’re not talking about side parts and skinny jeans), Instagram trends move quickly. And as we are well into 2021, the platform is once again shaking things up!
Instagram trends can make or break your social marketing strategy. As a business owner, it’s important to take advantage of new features and beta tools to stay ahead of the game!
As someone who is building your brand and/or business through Instagram, you should ALWAYS stay informed and flexible!
Today we are sharing with you 3 Instagram trends to watch right now!
TREND 1: Use the LIVE Rooms Feature
Instagram has recently announced Instagram Live Rooms — a new way to go Live on Instagram with up to 3 guests – 4 including yourself!
In the past, you were able to go LIVE with one other guest and according to Instagram, adding additional guests to your live was HIGHLY requested!
So why do we need to get in on this trend? Say hello to a whole new audience, engagement/content interactions which contributes to sales!
TREND 2: Use Original Content Only (aka goodbye Tik Toks!)
Not the actual platform BUT using Tik Toks ON Instagram is a big no-no.
This Instagram trend was announced just a few days ago. Instagram is advising against posting content that’s ‘visibly recycled from other apps’ – aka watermarks!
Instagram also mentioned that they have also updated its algorithm to limit such posts within the Explore as well as the Reel tab.
So if you want to be seen in the Explore tab, it’s best to create your Reel through Instagram and Instagram only!
If you are looking to maximize your Reels clips, here are a few tips!
TREND 3: Begin Writing Alt Text
Before we get to this Instagram trend, you may be asking “what is alt text?”
Alt text is a short text description of a photo that’s read aloud by a screen reading program. This text is an essential way for the visually impaired to get the clearest image of internet photos, which is why you should add alt text to photos you post on Instagram!
If you manually enter your own alt text when you post a photo to Instagram, your post can be understood and appreciated by the largest possible audience
Remember that your alt text is describing the photo to someone who may not be able to see the photo, or who has trouble seeing its details. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- You will want to describe the most important aspect of the photo. Be specific & brief!
- Try your best to not begin with a phrase like “Picture of…” or “Photo of…” Just describe the scene.
- Limit your description to fewer than 100 characters including spaces.
