5 Tips for Business Owners
Melanie and Katy interview entrepreneur powerhouse Lindsay Pinchuk
At Chic Influencer, we believe in collaboration over competition every single time. We had the pleasure of interviewing Lindsay Pinchuk, founder of The Bump Club, Lindsay Pinchuk Marketing + Consulting, and the FoundHer podcast. Through this interview, we talked about 5 vital tips for business owners and we are going to share those below!
Lindsay has an incredible story of expectant mom working in the corporate world to owner of The Bump Club, of a 7 figure community for parents and parents-to-be that she started with very little investment and from ground zero.
After 10 years with The Bump Club, she pivoted and sold the company to begin Lindsay Pinchuk Marketing + Consulting. Through her consulting work, she helps business owners learn to tell their stories, build their community and grow their brand. You can find more about Lindsay here!
Let’s dive in to the 5 tips that Lindsay has for any budding or seasoned entrepreneur!
Know and share your story.
Tip #1 for business owners is to know and share their personal business stories. Lindsay said, “It’s not just knowing your story to yourself, you have to share it. I think a lot of people get uncomfortable sharing and talking about themselves. But, at the end of the day, if you are not sharing what it is you’re doing and why, no one is going to know and no one is going to share it.”
It’s counterproductive for a business owner to have a story and not share it with everyone that they know. Your story is the soul of your business and in the end, you don’t know who will benefit from hearing it.
We also talked about the fact that your story will change over time, and that is okay. It’s actually great to show your network evolution and change. It gives people who may be holding themselves back the courage to change and adapt as well.
Finally, sharing your story is how communities are built. The more you share your story, the more other people will share your story. Before you know it, it will have resonated with more people than you could have ever realized.
Your community is your most important asset.
Next, the second tip for all of you business owners out there is all about community. When you share your content about who you are, what you do, why you do it and who you serve, you first have an audience. This group of people is consuming what you put out there, but they might at first be doing it just for entertainment purposes.
As you shift your narrative from “me” to “we,” like we always share at Chic Influencer, the message becomes more inclusive and your audience starts to feel like more of a participant in your message.
People do want to know how you can solve a problem for them, but they want to know it because you reached out and shared it personally instead of from a stage. When you lead with what you sell, or simply post and ghost, your marketing strategy becomes very “me” centered.
Engaging back with your audience, starting conversations, giving them the same love on their content that they give you on yours is what builds a community. And a community is filled with lifelong fans who purchase from you because the like, know and trust factor is bulletproof.
Content and strategy go hand-in-hand.
Tip #3 is all about content and strategy. In this current social media heavy landscape, we tend to think of content as what we put out on social media. However, Lindsay brilliantly pointed out that content is anything that you do that communicates your brand or story. It could be live, in-person events, collaborations and partnerships, email marketing, podcast interviews, etc.
Your strategy should be purposeful, and efficient with you always being able to answer the question, “why am I sharing what I’m sharing?” If you don’t have an answer to that question, then chances are, you probably shouldn’t be sharing it!
Just as we teach at Chic Influencer, Lindsay discussed how she spends intentional time creating her content. She talked about how she time blocks her content planning sessions like she would block out time for any other appointment. She is purposeful and strategic in her planning, using her content across all of her media forms. In her words, this helps her to avoid being a “constant content churning machine!”
At Chic Way Media, we offer many services that help the busy entrepreneur identify their branding message and create strategic content that converts. If you are someone who has been looking for a helping hand when it comes to your personal brand message, you can find it with Chic!

One email can make a lasting impact.
Tip #4 for business owners is one that is the easiest to do, but so often overlooked when launching a business!
Lindsay talked about how many of her consulting clients miss this one step: sending an email to everyone they know about the business that they have launched and why. She discussed how your email reaches the low-hanging fruit in your network, and while they personally may not need your services or product, someone that they know might!
By not taking the time to send an email sharing your story and how you want to help others, you are missing a golden opportunity to communicate your message to your network (and their networks!)
The good news is that it’s never too late to send the email. If it was a detail that you happened to overlook when launching your business, the term “better late than never” definitely applies here!
Don’t forget the obvious tactics.
Finally, tip #5 for business owners is this: sometimes the strategy or tactic is in the most obvious place and you’re just forgetting to take notice.
Lindsay pointed out, “Sometimes as marketers, business owners and women we try to dig deep to find out what they key is… and usually it’s right in front of you.”
Her example, and one that we often teach in our Chic Community, is really knowing your target audience and your ideal client. When you know who you’re serving, you know what to serve. Ask yourself, “where are they going?” and “what are they doing?” Meet them where they are.
A bonus tip that Lindsay also offered was to have an offline way to market your business as well. In a day and age when we are so reliant on social media, we can’t forget the grass roots marketing strategies that so many businesses before us have built their empires upon!
How many of these tips will you use?
